Carbon stored in Elizabeth Township forest will help pay for its preservation

March 21, 2021

In partnership with the local community, Allegheny Land Trust (ALT) is working to preserve and protect ~126 acres of woodlands in southeastern Allegheny County. Surrounded by rapidly encroaching residential development, the hilltop plateau and surrounding slopes reside entirely within the lower Youghiogheny River Watershed, just ten miles upstream from the City of Pittsburgh. The project area is fully platted for residential development and, without the intervention of this project, would have been converted to a subdivision with more than 150 homes.

At the moment, we exclusively develop projects in the United States and Canada. You indicated that you’re located outside of our project focus area. For now, we’ll add you to our list of potential partners and you’ll be the first to hear when we expand outside of North America.
