Bluesource is seeking an Accounting and Administrative Associate to join our fast-growing company. Reporting to both our Methane Director and Controller, the successful applicant will join Blue Source Canada to support the Accounting team and perform general office administrative tasks. The applicant will manage accounts payable and receivable processes, record transactions, maintain and reconcile account balances, and produce financial summaries.  The projects you will participate in are generating high quality greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions across North America, as Bluesource is an industry leader in developing and monetizing environmental benefits.  The core job duties will include:

  1. Servicing customers, including invoice generation and other accounts receivable duties,
  2. Servicing vendors, including invoice processing and payment through accounts payable,
  3. Properly coding expenses and revenue to general ledger,
  4. Ensuring accurate records for all customers and vendors,
  5. Collaborating with team and take initiative on process improvement opportunities,
  6. Promoting company policies and internal controls,
  7. Interfacing with management in various departments,
  8. Managing regular office vendors related to IT, communications, and building support staff,
  9. Assisting with event planning and travel arrangements,
  10. Various onboarding tasks for new employees, and
  11. Receive inbound phone calls and clients and partners into the office.

Qualifications:  Our ideal candidate has previous accounting or production accounting experience. This position is best suited to a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic, clear communication and multi-tasking skills, and strong attention to detail.  The ability to work independently, as well as to work in a team environment, are both highly valued.

Required skills and competencies:

  1. A great attitude, passion for the environment/climate change, and making a difference,
  2. Enthusiasm towards working collaboratively with the oil and gas sector towards cleaner energy solutions,
  3. A high level of numeracy and comfort with understanding debits and credits,
  4. Strong oral and written communications skills,
  5. Attention to detail and multitasking,
  6. Critical thinker with innovative, problem solving abilities,
  7. Excellent time management skills, and
  8. Strong Microsoft Office skills, including excel.

In addition, the following qualifications are associated with the role:

  1. 2 to 5 years experience working in an accounting and/or administrative role,
  2. Experience working with AP and AR,
  3. Experience working in a relevant oil and gas, and/or environmental field (climate change, energy efficiency, etc.) is preferred,
  4. A business, accounting or administrative diploma is preferred.
